Top-Ranked Marian Topples Tigers
MISHAWAKA – The Warsaw softball team ran into a buzz saw Tuesday night.
In the form of No. 1 ranked Mishawaka Marian.
The host Knights defeated the Tigers 17-0 in five innings.
Marian, No. 1 in Class 3-A, piled up 20 hits to improve to 19-4 on the season. The Knights scored five runs in the first inning and seven more in the second frame.
Junior Kaleigh Speicher took the pitching loss for Warsaw, which had four hits in the contest.
Jamie Young led Marian with four hits and five RBI. Katie Barnard had a double and a triple for the Knights.
Warsaw, now 8-15, will host Elkhart Memorial Thursday. The Tigers then host Tippecanoe Valley Friday and South Bend St. Joseph on Saturday to close out the regular season.
