Daniel E. Rans, 41, of Akron, Ind., died unexpectedly on Monday, May 13, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 12, 1971, in Rochester, Ind., the son of James R. Rans Sr. and Kathryn (Willard) Adams. He married Nancy A. Floor on May 17, 1991, in Rochester. She survives.

He was employed by Zimmer Orthopedics, Warsaw, as a CNC operator.

Daniel was a 1990 graduate of Rochester High School. He attended The Cross, Rochester. He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his dogs. He was always making and designing things out of various materials. He was a hard worker who loved his wife and son deeply, and he will be missed.

Survivors include his wife; a son: Travis Rans, Akron, Ind.; his mother and stepfather: Kathryn (James) Adams, Rochester; his father and mother-in-law: Larry (Ann) Floor, Akron; brothers: James R. Jr. (Melanie) Rans, Grove City, Ohio; George Rans, Plymouth, Ind.; and Brandon (Nicole) Rans, Killeen, Texas; a sister: Beth (Seamus) Pinder, Fulton, Ind.; stepbrothers: Pat (Brandi) Bilby, Rochester; Jon (LaDonna) Mitchell, Rochester; and Scott Bilby, Akron; stepsisters: Betty (Tom) Stroud, Fulton, Ind.; Paula Moore, Rochester; brother-in-law: Mark (Bev) Floor, Akron; and sister-in-law: Deborah Floor, Claypool, Ind.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Whitaker and Pastor Martin Furrow officiating. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Lake, Ind.

Memorial contributions will be open to the donor’s choice.
