Hollar, Schram Lead Warsaw To Wins
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys golf team bounced back Thursday night with a pair of wins.
The outstanding duo of Jonny Hollar and Jon Schram led the way as the Tigers topped Elkhart Memorial and Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference play at the Stonehenge Golf Club.
Warsaw, which had lost its first NLC match in four years Tuesday night to host and No. 11 NorthWood 151-161 at McCormick Creek, shot 154 to edge past the Crimson Chargers (156) and easily beat the Pilgrims (173).
Sensational sophomore Hollar fired a 37 and senior standout Schram came in with a 38 to pace the No. 6 Tigers to the two league wins in the NLC regular-season finale.
Junior Will Petro shot a 40, while senior Evan Cultice had a 41 and senior Tim Ahlersmeyer a 44 for coach Ben Barkey’s squad.
The Tigers honored seniors Schram, Ahlersmeyer and Cultice Thursday evening as the trio were playing their final regular-season match at Stonehenge.
Warsaw will host both the sectional (May 31) and the regional (June 6) back at Stonehenge.
Braden Sherwood shot a 38 and Michael Foy a 39 to lead Memorial. Drew Stutz had a 40, Frank Iavagnilio 41 and Nick Foy 42 for the Crimson Chargers.
Nate Kolter led Plymouth with a 39. Kurt Corsbie shot 42, Ben Schenk 44, Kendall Fosler 48 and Zach Craft 51 for the Pilgrims.
Warsaw finishes the NLC at 6-1. NorthWood defeated Concord 161-182 Thursday night at Bent Oak in Elkhart to win the NLC regular-season title at a perfect 7-0.
The Tigers will compete in the NLC Tournament Saturday at Maplecrest in Goshen. Warsaw then hosts the Bob Turner Classic Monday at the Tippecanoe Country Club in Leesburg.
The Warsaw JV team beat Memorial and Plymouth to finish undefeated in NLC action.
Sophomores Ryan Cultice and Reid Cameron each shot 41 for the Tigers. Sophomore Brandon Eckert had a 42 and sophomores Josh Ahlersmeyer and Curtis Archer each shot 46.
