Eisenhower Junior Reporter Discusses New Keyboards
Story by Carson Kerlin, Junior Reporter at Eisenhower Elementary
This is Carson Kerlin reporting to you from Eisenhower Elementary School in Warsaw. Today is Friday, May 24, and I would like to welcome you to our music room. Our music teacher is Mrs. Robin Merrick. She has been teaching for a total of 23 years and she has been teaching at Eisenhower for 22 years. She also teaches at Jefferson Elementary. Music is considered a “special” and we have music once a week.
Our school has purchased keyboards for music class and next year students will learn how to play the keyboard. We have 15 keyboards and each one can accomodate two students. The keyboards can be silenced so the room will be quite. Students will wear headphones to hear what they are playing.
Mrs. Merrick, who began playing the piano when she was 5 years old, had to attend special training sessions at Taylor University in Upland, Ind. There will be a wide variety of music used for keyboarding class.
According to Mrs. Merrick, the course will include, “…a very flexible curriculum that is easily integrated into the music literacy, which means that students will be able to read music.”
Most students enjoy music class so i think they will support the keyboarding program. This is Carson Kerlin signing off from StaceyPageOnline.com
Though this is the last Junior Report for Eisenhower Elementary this school year, watch for more reports from Kerlin this summer!
