Central, Northridge Advance
ELKHART – Defending champion Elkhart Central and Northridge claimed wins Friday night in first-round baseball sectional action at Elkhart Memorial.
The No. 2 Blue Blazers blanked Concord 3-0 and Northridge edged past Goshen 4-3 in eight innings in play of the Class 4-A event.
The two games had been postponed Thursday night due to the cold weather.
Central (26-1) faces Northridge (25-3) today at 11 a.m. in a semifinal game. Warsaw then plays Elkhart Memorial in the second semifinal contest. The championship game is set for Monday at noon.
Central ace Tanner Tully fired a four-hitter to lead his team Friday night. The southpaw, who is headed to Ohio State, fanned 14 hitters to improve to 6-1 on the hill.
Concord, which lost 11-1 to Central during the regular season, finishes at 18-7.
Brooke Logan’s RBI single in the eighth inning lifted the Raiders over the Redskins.
Northridge beat Goshen 9-3 and 16-2 in a pair of regular-season meetings between the two NLC foes.
The Redskins finish at 11-17.
