Hundreds Turn Out For Memorial Day 5K
Hundreds of dedicated runners and volunteers braved the cold and rainy Memorial Day weather to participate in the second annual Tracey Yeager Memorial 5K Run/Walk. The overall male winner was Daniel Neidlinger of Plymouth (Age 25) with a time of 19:03 and Allison Miller of Warsaw (Age 13) won the female division with a time of 19:34.
The event was highly successful at raising money for a newly created fund at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. With nearly 550 paid registrations and the numerous sponsors and donors, over $30,000 was raised for the fund. The Tracey’s Trails Fund will support the building, improving, and maintaining of hiking/cycling trails, greenways and linear parks in Kosciusko County.
One out-of-town attendee said of the event: “I couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend my Memorial Day morning than at this event. It really started my holiday off right and sent home the message of what Memorial Day is all about. Being with family and friends and recognizing those who have served and sacrificed so much for the freedoms we enjoy.”
