Motorcycles, food and dance were all part of the fun of Warsaw’s June First Friday celebration. First Friday’s theme this month was “We Are Lake City” and featured a motorcycle cruise-in and show. Festivities began at 5:30 p.m. and concluded at 9 p.m.
The event kicked off with five motorcycle groups cruising through downtown Warsaw led by Warsaw Police Lt. Kip Shuter. Members of Blood Bought Bikers Christian Motorcycle Group, Abate, Patriot Riders, Lake City Wings and Marine Riders rode through downtown Warsaw and set up their bikes for public viewing at the east block of Center Street near Mad Anthony’s. The cruise-in was organized by Tracy Marshall and the Marine Riders of Michiana.
Though bikers often have a reputation for being rough around the edges, the many motorcyclist who attended today’s events proved bikers do have a softer side. Many bikers put their “hogs” up to be judged by the public for best of show. The entry fees paid to participate in the competition served as a donation to the VFW National Home for Children. The public was given free tickets to place within envelops on front of motorcycles involved in the contest. At the end of the night, the bike with the most tickets was given a People’s Choice plaque donated by Acey’s Trophies in Warsaw.

In addition to browsing the numerous motorcycles lining Center Street, attendees were treated to a live dance performance from area dance schools such as Deb Collier’s School of Dance. Performances included numbers by adults and children alike and featured a variety of music and themes.
Motorcycles and dance were not the only thing First Friday goers could enjoy though. Several local organizations and craft booths lined the streets of downtown Warsaw along the courthouse square. Booths included a puppy adoption booth provided by Animal Welfare League, a CPR training station hosted by Kosciusko County EMS, and a free water station provided by Warsaw Public Library.
Other fun things included a dunk tank, and water games on North Buffalo Street; corn hole, beach volleyball and a sand castle competition.
