Optimist Club Triathlon Celebrating 20th Anniversary
The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club is celebrating the 20th year of the Triathlon event in our community, which is this year set for Saturday, June 29.
The organization needs the public’s help by participating in this Annual Sprint Triathlon which will begin at 8 a.m. June 29, in Winona Lake Park. Cost is $58 for an individual and $135 as a team.
Last year, the Breakfast Optimists raised $11,000 for kids programs in this community and they would love to do better than that this year.
Thus far, there are 350 registrants and the Optimist Club would like to surpass the 550 athletes who participated a year ago. The club reports that 83 percent of the triathletes come from outside of Kosciusko County, so to keep this race growing they need the public to help contribute to the future of local kids with your willingness and courage to compete in this race.
The race is a 1/4-mile swim, 13.5-mile bike ride and a 3.7-mile run with a children’s version toward the end. Prizes are awarded along with T-shirts and other coupons.
Teams of two or three are welcome and encouraged to participate. Register online at warsawoptimist.org or at signmeup.com.
