Robert “Bob” Joseph Doherty, 55, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the IU Health Goshen Hospital, Goshen, Ind.

He was born Aug. 27, 1957, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Albert and Marie (Park) Doherty. He was married to Sherry Lynn Pfeiffer on July 26, 1980.

He was a mechanical engineer and earned his degree from Purdue University. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse.

Bob was a family man who loved spending time with his wife and kids and grandkids at the lake.

Bob is survived by his wife: Sherry Doherty; Syracuse; two daughters: Anita (Martin) Dunn; and Katy (Tim) Thirkettle; a son: Joey (Yei Sol Woo) Doherty; four grandchildren: Joshua Dunn, Eliza Beth Thirkettle, Jessica Thirkettle and Stephanie Thirkettle; his mother: Marie Doherty; and three sisters: Karen (Gary) Parke, Pam (Dave) DeKonick and Linda (Tim) Travis.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother: Brian Doherty.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at the Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne, Ind.
