Schram, Ahlersmeyer Earn Accolades
WARSAW – Warsaw golfers Jon Schram and Tim Ahlersmeyer capped off prolific prep careers last week with a trip to the State Finals.
The pair of recent WCHS graduates have both been honored for their work on and off the course.
Schram has earned All-State honors for his stellar senior season. The award is the second time he has achieved the distinction.
Ahlersmeyer claimed All-State Academic accolades for his achievements.
Schram and Ahlersmeyer helped coach Ben Barkey’s No. 10 ranked Tiger team place 15th at the State Finals June 11-12 at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin.
Schram, who will play at Ball State, shot rounds of 72 and 81 at the State Finals. Ahlersmeyer, the valedictorian of the Class of 2013 who is slated to attend Butler, shot 76 and 78 in his final two high school rounds.
Schram and Ahlersmeyer helped the Tigers claim a share of the NLC championship this spring. The duo also helped Warsaw win both sectional and regional championships at Stonehenge. Schram shot a 69 to earn individual medalist honors at the regional after making an eagle on his final hole to give his team the championship.
Schram and Ahlersmeyer are just two of four golfers from the highly-successful Warsaw program to play in the State Finals all four years. They join former standouts Tyler Ostrom, who is now playing at Ball State, and Bennett Hollar, who now plays at Wheaton College.
The Tigers tied for sixth place as a team at the State Finals in 2012. Warsaw was seventh at State in 2011 and did not make the cut after the first round of play in 2010.
