Kay L. Kyler
Kay L. Kyler, 68, of North Webster Lake, Ind., passed away at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at her home following an extended battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Leon E. ‘Bud’ and Mary I. (Lenox) Hamman. A native of South Whitley, Ind., she graduated from South Whitley High School. She continued her education at Indiana Institute of Technology. On Nov. 29, 1985, she was united in marriage to Harry M. Kyler. They made their home in rural South Whitley until moving to their home on North Webster Lake 14 years ago.
She was employed at Dwyer Instruments, Huntington Schools, Fox Products and lastly Strombeck Septic. A member of North Webster American Legion Post #253 Auxiliary, she served as sergeant-at-arms and corresponding secretary. She volunteered at North Webster Community Public Library.
She is survived by her husband; two sons: Kevin (Deb) Shoemaker, South Whitley; Kip (Tricia) Shoemaker, North Manchester; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father: Alfred H. Heuer.
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Dr., North Webster. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the church. The burial will take place at a later date at South Whitley Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice or American Legion Rehab Fund.
