Art BLAST! Fair Tomorrow In Syracuse
Local artists and art enthusiasts are invited to have a blast this Saturday, June 29, at Creative Fish Art Gallery. The fourth annual Art Blast is set to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the gallery, 200 E. Pickwick Dr., Syracuse. Artwork for sale will include paintings, wearable art, pottery, photography, jewelry, sculpture, metal art and more.
Kathy Boyts of Creative Fish anticipates around 40 artists at this year’s show but is limiting entry to the first 60 who sign up for booth space. The idea is to keep the show smaller and more intimate.
“The reason I do that is so that people will shop the artists that are here,” Boyts said. “When you start getting really big, it gets kind of crazy.”
For the third year in a row, community members will have a chance to purchase a raffle ticket and contribute their own, personal touch to a painting that will be set up on site. At the end of the show, the painting will be raffled off. The winner does not need to be present to win. Proceeds will help purchase supplies for ArtZie Workshop for nonprofit art activities for kids.
Chautauqua will be on site with information about their programs. Local authors Loren Shaun and Patric Boylen will display their books. Shaun has compiled a cookbook of local recipes and Boylen has written a murder mystery set on the shores of Lake Wawasee. Boyts noted the book highlights actual places around the lake.
As for food, J-N-B Smokers will grill up sandwiches, ribs and chicken.
Local singer, Ivory West, is on the schedule to provided entertainment.
