First Friday, Fireworks Kick Off Weekend
The “Great American Picnic” is the the theme of tonight’s First Friday in Warsaw. Activities will begin at 5 p.m. and will conclude at 9 p.m. The July 5 First Friday is sponsored by Tower Bank.
Activities will include the annual Tower Bank watermelon feast, a Cool Car Cruise-in, Echoes of the past Tractor Show, and 50 cent hot dogs provided by Owens Supermarket. In addition to food and fun, visitors can take a moment to help give back to those in need by donating blood to the American Red Cross Blood Drive. The annual blood drive will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Center Street beside the courthouse.
Music will be played downtown by Willie 103.5 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dance performances will take Center Stage with Astound dancers beginning performances at 7 p.m. and Deb Collier School of Dance taking stage at 7:30 p.m.
Also available this evening will be free shuttle service from Warsaw to Winona Lake and back for the fireworks display. The shuttles begin at 5 p.m. and end at 9 p.m., but a last shuttle will be available from Winona Lake to Warsaw at 11:15 p.m.
Drop off and pick up points will be located at the post offices in Winona Lake and Warsaw. The shuttle will leave from Winona Lake on the quarter hour and from Warsaw on the half hour.
The First Friday committee would like to remind everyone that in August, First Friday events will be moved one block south on Center and Market Streets to accommodate the Criterium Bike Race at the courthouse. August’s theme will be Health, Wealth and Diversity.
