NW Chamber Discusses Dixie Days, Memberships
Congratulations were extended to Ed and Judy Clayton, owners of Clayton Garden Center, for being selected by the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce July 2013 business of the month at the chamber’s monthly meeting Monday at the North Webster American Legion. President Sue Ward lauded their community involvment.
The chamber is planning its Fall Festival for Saturday, Sept. 28. It is looking for sponsors to help bring a lumberjack show from Wisconsin to the event. Interested parties should contact Ward, 574-834-4323. Julie DuBois is chairman of the Fall Festival.
Board member Ben Ashpole will begin doing a study of which businesses are members of the chamber and which are not. After that information is gathered, the board will decide how to proceed with learning the needs of local businesses and how the chamber can best meet them.
Dixie Days plans were tweaked for the event to take place Friday and Saturday, July 26 and July 27. Most of the events will be on Saturday including the art fair, open air market, fun run, car and bike show, corn hole tourney and special Dixie boat cruises.
A hospitality room serving a continental breakfast will be set up in the Pilcher Shoes building from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday for the artisan vendors. Businesses are urged to contact board member Martha Stoelting with extended hours and specials for Dixie Days.
The deadline to be included in a special Dixie Days section of The Paper is Monday, July 15. Susan Littlefield should be contacting organizations and businesses for advertising or she can be reached 574-457-3666.
The next general meeting of the chamber will be at noon, Monday, Aug. 12, at the American Legion.
