Record Sale At 4-H Livestock Auction
The 2013 Kosciusko County 4-H Livestock Auction Friday, at the Kosciusko County Community Fair, brought in a grand total of $384,562.44, a record sale for the auction.
This year’s auction had 544 lots being sol, was up 16 lots from 2012 and was up over $29,000 from 2012.
The break down shows the 27 beef entries totaled in $91,152.60 while the 117 lots of swine up for auction brought in $100,702.04. There were 12 lots of dairy up for auction bringing the total to $9,050, with the 42 lots of dairy calf feeder steers totaling $47,571.13.
The five dairy steer lots were sold for a total of $10,790.30, with the 52 goat lots selling for a total of $27,225.
This year’s King Kiss with Jake Templin brought in $1,200 with the Queen Kiss with Kristin Quick bringing $3,400.
Lots of pork loins, 10 total, raised $3,400 with the 194 lots of poultry bringing in $55,960.37. A total of $13,730 was the result of 194 lots of poultry being auctioned. The 49 lots of rabbits totaled $13,730 with the 22 lots of sheep bringing in a total of $17,641.
The 10 lots of ribeyes totaled $3,075.
The Buyers Support Group added an additional $6,269.03 to the auction results for the new record total.
The 11th annual Sale of Champions livestock auction was held Friday evening in the show arena.
This year’s sale of champions exhibited by local residents included:
Alexis Ostrom, Warsaw, received $9,165 for her grand champion beef steer.
Scott Hesser, Leesburg, received $9,665 for his reserve grand champion beef steer.
Sarah Tucker, Mentone, received $2,250 for her grand champion dairy steer. The grand champion dairy steer was purchased by the friends of Sarah Tucker and Deatsman Grain.
Jake Templin, Milford, received $9,300 for his grand champion dairy calf feeder steer.
Tyler McDonald, Silver Lake, received $1,600 for his grand champion rabbit meat pen.
Garrett Long, Warsaw, received $1,600 for his reserve grand champion rabbit meat pen.
Meghan Tucker, Warsaw, received $4,000 for her grand champion specialty market goat.
Danielle Jenkins, Milford, received $2,975 for her grand champion dairy market goat.
Dakota Tarver, Pierceton received $1,350 for the grand champion senior doe-goat milk.
Lidsey O’Hara, Claypool, received $4,500 for the grand champion market lamb. O’Hara’s reserve grand champion market lamb did not sell.
Brock O’Haver, Leesburg, received $4,000 for his grand champion barrow. The grand champion barrow was purchased by friends and family of Brock O’Haver and Deatsman Grain, Dennis Polk Equipment and Bishop Farms.
Stephon Miller, Leesburg, received $2,100 for his reserve grand champion barrow. The reserved grand champion barrow was purchased by friends and family of Stephon Miller and Clunette Elevator, Bishop Farms and Deatsman Grain.
Jordan Stookey, Milford, received $3,600 for his grand champion Holstein.
Sydney Victa, Warsaw, received $1,500 for the grand champion broilers.
Anne Secrest, Claypool received $1,500 for her grand champion market duck.
Casey Dierks, Claypool, received $1,450 for the grand champion turkey.
The 4-H Queen Kiss with Kristin Quick, Warsaw, brought in $3,065 with the 4-H Kings Kiss with Jake Templin bringing $1,200.
