Da-Lite Shoots Down Firearms Rumors
A recent rumor circulating that a Warsaw business has banned all personal firearms on company premises is not entirely accurate.
Following the posting of a new sign regulating the presence of firearms outside of Da-Lite’s facility, rumors began circulating that the business had banned firearms both inside and outside of their buildings. The alleged ban was said to include parking lot areas and employee vehicles.
However, according to Da-Lite Senior Marketing Manager Melissa Rone, though it is true that the company has a ban of firearms inside its buildings, employees are permitted to leave their licensed firearms in their vehicles.
“We posted a new sign yesterday, but this is not a new policy,” explained Rone. “We have always been a gun free building. Employees may leave their firearm in their car, but they cannot bring the gun into the building.”
According to Rone, Da-Lite is owned by Milestone, a company based in Minnesota. Rone stated that the posting of the new sign became a company-wide requirement following the passing of state legislation in Minnesota that required businesses to place signs stating their gun policies.
Rone explained that the sign is to act solely as a reminder of the company’s policies on firearm possession within the workplace.
