Dixie Days To Feature Free Music, Ski Shows
Dixie Days features one of North Webster’s hidden but mightily used treasures, North Webster Town Park.
It is where the Dixie sternwheeler tour boat is docked and is home to a free, use-at-your-own-risk swimming beach, playground, municipal piers, a fishing wharf, restaurant and a picnic pavilion. Two of the unique events that will add to the Dixie Days fun will occur here.
They are the free musical concert by the Chain Gang at 7 p.m. Friday, July 26, and the Webster Lake Ski Bees Show at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 27. It is best to bring your own seating for both events. Free parking is available in three town lots, two adjacent to the park and a new one 1 block west of Dixie Haven Resort on East Himes Street.
The concert is the part of a summer musical series called Music in the Park. It is performed every Friday evening from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend compliments of the North Webster Park Board and the town of North Webster.
A wide variety of musical styles are presented each year. The Chain Gang is looking forward to the increased crowd for its Dixie Days show.
Webster Lake Ski Bees have been perfroming waterski shows since the 1950s and give several each summer. The best place to view and hear about the spectacle is from North Webster Town Park. While the show is free, donations are accepted to allow the group to continue performing. Members range from children to adults who combine their talents to offer a fun evening of tricks.
Follow the signs from SR 13 to North Webster Town Park and the Dixie boat. It is located on the west edge of Webster Lake on Dixie Drive in a residential area. Free parking is available at two lots adjacent to the park and a new lot just west of Dixie Haven Resort on East Himes Street. Please do not park in residents’ yards or block driveways.
Help the traditions continue by attending both events.
