Lighthouse Autism Center Opens In Warsaw
Lighthouse Autism Center, a facility for children with autism, has opened a new location in Warsaw at 1535 Provident Dr.
This is the second location for Lighthouse Autism Center, which opened a center in Mishawaka in May 2012. The initial location was the first of its kind in the area and was well received in the community.
Lighthouse provides year-round intensive center-based therapy utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Over 30 years of research documents the efficacy of ABA in reducing the inappropriate behavior and in increasing communication, learning, and appropriate social behavior in individuals with autism and other development delays
“We were asked to come and help families in the Mishawaka (Michiana) area last year. We held a community interest meeting and there was a great turnout,” said Gregg Maggioli, Lighthouse Autism Center’s executive director. “The same thing was true with Warsaw. Parents, grandparents, educators and doctors told us about the need for our services in Warsaw. We knew this is where they needed us next.” (See related story)
Lighthouse Autism Center plans to serve the needs of at least 20 children and provide 30 or more jobs at the two locations.
