LaLonde Leads Tigers
KENDALLVILLE – Nikki LaLonde led the way Saturday as the Warsaw girls golf team posted a runner-up team finish in the East Noble Invitational.
Senior LaLonde toured the Noble Hawk course by firing a round of 77 to place third among individuals competing in the 10-team field.
Warsaw, which opened its season Thursday with a win over Bremen, shot 342.
Senior Elizabeth Meadows came in with an 80 and junior Alexis Manwaring posted an 86 for the Tigers. Junior Kristen Watson shot 99 and sophomore Aarishia Jain finished with a 100.
NorthWood won the invitational championship with a team score of 327. Heidi Morganthaler shot a 72 to lead the winners. The Panthers shot 366 Friday to win the Goshen Invitational at Black Squirrel, capturing the first-ever invitational championship in program history.
Jaycee Bunner of Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian earned medalist honors Saturday with a 69.
NorthWood topped the team standings at 327, followed by Warsaw (342), Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (350), East Noble Blue (351), Elkhart Central (372), DeKalb (375), Goshen (403), Concord (409), East Noble Gold (430) and Huntington North (430).
Teage Minier led Goshen with a round of 87. McKenna Grimske topped Concord with a 92.
Warsaw (1-0) plays at Columbia City Monday at 11:30 a.m. and then hosts Rochester Thursday at Stonehenge at 5 p.m.
