KCCF Gala Dinner, Auctions On Sept. 7
The 2013 Cancer Care Gala is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Leesburg. All proceeds will benefit the Kosciusko County Community Care Fund. The fund benefits cancer patients in the local community.
The evening starts at 6 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and dinner starts at 6:45 p.m. followed by an auction and musical entertainment by Kylene Crabb, the 2013 Idol Night Judge’s Choice.
Both a silent and live auction will be going throughout the night, with the live auction after dinner.
Seating is limited to the first 200 responses and the cost is per plate.
There will also be a Hero for the Cause speaker and guest speaker, Dee Salmons.
Salmons and her husband have been lifelong residents of Kosciusko County and used the Cancer Care Fund to assist with housing and auto expenses during her husband, Steve’s, battle with colorectal cancer. He was diagnosed on Christmas Eve in 2011 and ultimately lost his battle on Oct. 24, 2012.
This year’s gala theme is “Color the Cure.” Flowers representing the colors associated with specific cancers will be displayed. The colors include white for lung cancer, pink from breast cancer, lime green for lymphoma, periwinkle for stomach cancer and dark blue for color cancer.
The Facebook page Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County offers images of live auction items and silent auction items, as well as updates on gala happenings and planning.
Members of the community who are interested in attending the event but have not received an invitation may contact Jennifer Steward 574-296-5188 to have an invite mailed.
