Wawasee Surprises Westview
SYRACUSE – A pair of goals from Ricky Camargo, including his second four minutes from time, helped Wawasee achieve a stunning 2-2 varsity boys soccer tie with Westview Tuesday night in Syracuse.
Wawasee were just 0-8-1 in its last nine games against Westview, all season openers, and had scored just three goals in that span. The Camargo goals were both equalizers, the first assisted by Rich Rasmus in the 22nd minute and Derek Stutzman helped the second in the 76th minute. Westview scored on a Jacob Berkey goal in the second minute and later in the 60th minute by Buchanon Carpenter.
Westview played a man down after receiving a red card in the eighth minute.
Wawasee (0-0-1) will look to keep the reversal of fortune alive when it travels to Concord Saturday morning.
