Trojans Clip Caston
BOURBON – A great start Friday night got the Triton football team off to a big win in its season opener.
The host Trojans built a 25-0 lead en route to topping Caston 25-13.
Triton, which finished 1-9 last season, gave new coach John Johns his first win.
The Trojans took control of the contest with an 18-point outburst in the second quarter.
Quarterback Grant Stichter fired a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Triton offense. Stichter connected with Joey Farmwald on a 24-yard scoring strike and hit Jeremy Jones for a four-yarder.
Cole Creighbaum rushed for 42 yards on 15 carries and scored on an 11-yard run for the Trojans. Jones also returned a fumble for a touchdown in the win.
Triton lost a 28-20 final at Caston in the season opener a year ago. The Comets went on to finish 8-3 last season.
Triton hosts Northfield (0-1) next Friday night while Caston plays at West Central.
