Singles Pair Pace Trojans
BOURBON – A pair of dominating singles wins by its top two players paced Triton past Mishawaka Marian 3-2 in boys’ tennis action Tuesday evening.
Dean Howdeshell rolled to a win at No. 1 singles and Jared Fisher was even more impressive at No. 2 singles for the winning Trojans.
Howdeshell beat Reilly Hicks 6-1, 6-1, while Fisher blanked David Hicks 6-0, 6-0.
The clinching point for Triton came at No. 2 doubles as Jake Oldham teamed with Austin Sellers to beat Patrick Yergler and Sam Cressy 7-5, 6-1.
Gavin Eads lost in three sets at No. 3 singles for Triton, while Lucas Shafer and Darren Harrell dropped a straight set match at No. 1 doubles for the Trojans.
Triton improves to 3-1 on the season, while Marian drops to 2-5.
Triton won the JV match by a 4-1 final.
The Trojans play at conference foe Knox Wednesday.
