Elkhart’s Beck Tabbed For Honor
INDIANAPOLIS – Bill Beck has been selected to receive the 2013-14 Distinguished Media Service Award for District 1 by the IHSAA Executive Committee.
Beck, a highly-respected sportswriter, has spent his entire career with the Elkhart Truth. He began there on a part-time basis in 1980, became full-time in 1984 and has served as Sports Editor since 2002.
Beck, a 1978 Goshen High School graduate, will be honored prior to the Goshen at NorthWood football game Friday night in Nappanee. The Northern Lakes Conference contest kicks-off at 7:30 p.m.
Beck has covered a total of 44 state championship contest involving Elkhart County schools throughout his illustrious career, including a slew of state football title games. He also served as the sports director for WTRC from 2005-09 and has done work for WHME-TV.
Beck and his wife Staci have three children, Christopher, Gina and Mason.
