Mary Ann Watkins
Mary Ann Watkins, 87, formerly of Etna Green, Ind., passed away at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, Ind., where she has resided since 2006.
She was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Marshall County, Ind., to Earl and Daisy Swank Fowler. She was a 1945 graduate of Bremen High School and lived her lifetime in this area. She married DeVaun R. ‘Hap’ Watkins on July 7, 1945, in Bourbon, Ind. He preceded her in death.
She had worked at Holiday Rambler for 23 years. She was a member of Hepton Union Church and a longtime member of Kosciusko County Homemakers Club. She enjoyed attending the Elder Haus in Nappanee, Ind., and the Red Hat Snappy Nappy’s. Mary was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, shopping, traveling and spending time with family.
She is survived by daughters: Linda McConnell, Claypool, Ind.; Wanda (Paul ‘Butch’) Troke, Akron, Ind.; sons: Mark (Sharol) Watkins, White Pigeon, Mich.; Seth (Tammy) Watkins, Bourbon, Ind.; grandchildren: Dr. Michael (Tracie) McConnell; Hope (Ben) Maynus; Star Watkins; Seth (Liz) Dylan; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Pat Watkins, Etna Green.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Luella Ewart.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home. Pastor Butch Troke will officiate. Burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.
