Vernon R. Schroll
Vernon R. Schroll, 74, Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 10:27 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, in his residence.
He was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Wabash County, Ind., to Ross V. and Helen L. (Vrooman) Schroll. He graduated class of 1957 from Chester High School, North Manchester, Ind. He served from 1957 to 1960 with the US Navy aboard the USS Ranger, declining the opportunity to serve as a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. On January 8, 1961, he married Beverly A. King.
He was a farmer and fertilizer salesman and applicator at Strauss Co, North Manchester and Ernie’s, Servia, Ind. He retired from Syracuse Rubber, Syracuse, Ind. In the 1960’s he served on the Wabash County Sheriff’s Reserve. He enjoyed gardening, sports, I.U. Basketball and Chicago Bears football.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly A. Schroll, Warsaw; one son: David V. Schroll, Clunette, Ind.; two daughters: Pamela (Jon) Fawley, North Manchester; and Judy (Darren Friedman) Stevens, North Manchester; two sisters: Patricia (George) Deeter, Georgetown, Texas; Anita (Lester) Williams, Georgetown; four grandchildren: John ‘Ross’ Fawley, Ryan Lee (Tabitha) Fawley, Tyler M. Stevens and Erika Stevens; three great-grandchildren: Victoria, Eliott and Westyn.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut St., North Manchester. The family will receive friends following the services until 3 p.m. at the church. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
