Valley Middle School Wrap – Sept. 24
AKRON – A pair of wins by its’ football teams highlighted action Tuesday night for Tippecanoe Valley Middle School athletic squads.
The Valley 8th grade team topped Northfield 22-20. Liam Leininger had 105 yards and two touchdowns and Camden Tucker returned an interception for a score for Valley.
The Valley 7th grade team defeated Northfield 41-16. Alex Morrison had two touchdowns and 87 yards and Wes Melanson had 104 yards and three touchdowns, including one on a return of a fumble recovery.
The 8th grade football team also beat Manchester 30-6 in a makeup game Sept. 21. Leininger led the winners with 114 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Zane Duff and Bryce Webster each had one touchdown.
The 7th grade team topped Manchester 20-6.
Haley Hoover took first-place honors Tuesday in the girls’ race of cross country action versus Whitko and North Miami. Hoover won the race in a time of 13:57 for Valley. Taylor Weber placed third overall in 15:17 and Sarah Tucker was fifth in 15:47.
Evan Lowman was sixth overall in a time of 13:24 in the boys’ race to pace Valley. Domingo Santiago was 12th in 16:05, Alex Santiago 14th in 18:01 and Hunter Pacely 16th in 23:11.
Plymouth beat Valley 25-23, 25-21 in 7th grade volleyball action. Sophie Bussard had eight points and four aces, Shayleigh Shriver seven points and five aces and Kennedie Brooks three aces.
Plymouth also won the 7th grade B match 25-14, 25-10. Lauren Sponseller had two aces and Kirsten Prater, Payton Warner and Tuesday Dotson one each for Valley.
Plymouth won both of the 8th grade matches in two sets.
