Valley Middle School Wrap – Sept. 28
AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley Middle School volleyball and cross country teams competed on Saturday.
The 7th grade volleyball team went 1-3 in the Southwood Tournament. The team beat Rochester in three sets and lost to Lakeview, Manchester and North Miami in two sets each.
Shayleigh Shriver was the top player on the day for Valley. Shriver had a total of 50 service points to go with 14 aces.
Morgan Olivarez had 24 points and three aces in the tourney. Sydney Howard had 22 points and four aces, Hannah Durkes 25 points and two aces, Sophie Bussard 20 points and Kennedie Brooks eight points and two aces.
The Valley 8th grade team also went 1-3. They beat North Miami and lost to Manchester, Rochester and Wabash.
Haley Hoover led the Valley girls’ cross country team. She placed 58th overall in a field of 348 runners with a time of 18:00. Taylor Weber was 145th in a time of 20:06, with Sarah Tucker 170th in 20:26 and Lorena Santiago 176th in 20:31.
Evan Lowman was the top finisher for the Valley boys’ team as he was 160th in a field of 323 runners with a time of 18:19. Domingo Santiago placed 289th in 22:33, with Alex Santiago 290th in 22:36 and Hunter Pacely 318th in 25:26.
