Conference Honors For Grace Tennis
WINONA LAKE – To cap off an outstanding 2013 fall season, the Grace College men’s tennis team earned three First Team All-Crossroads League awards as well as the Coach of the Year in Larry Schuh.
Aaron Blevins, Daniel Sanchez and Jose Marval were each named First Team All-Crossroads League on the 12-member team. Schuh’s Coach of the Year award was his second honor in six years at the helm of Grace’s program.
The Lancers won their second straight Crossroads League championship for the regular season and finished with a 9-3 record in the fall.
Sanchez finished 6-2 at No. 1 singles to lead Grace’s team. He also combined with Blevins at No. 1 doubles to produce a 6-2 record. Blevins ended 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Marval posted an impressive 7-1 record at No. 2 doubles with Michael Humphrey. He also earned a 6-2 mark at No. 2 singles for the Lancers.
Schuh was nearly unanimously voted as the CL’s Coach of the Year after an outstanding 2013 season. After graduating several key players from last year’s championship season, Schuh steered the Lancers to the No. 1 seed in the league tournament.
