Chargers Find Way Against Warrior Spikers
LIGONIER – Wawasee’s prolonged agony on the varsity volleyball court continued Tuesday night in another heartbreaking loss, this time to host West Noble. The Lady Warriors won the first game 25-22, then dropped the nest two 18-25, 23-25 before winning game four 25-10. In the deciding fifth game, West Noble found a way to get the job done, 15-13.
Stat leaders for Wawasee included Aly Anderson with 29 digs, Tia Long with 23 assists and two blocks, Meghan Fretz with 10 kills and Kasey Napier with six aces. Wawasee were without the star services of senior Lydia Katsaropoulos and junior Alli Ousley, both dealing with medical issues.
“Another tough loss in the second half of the season. Last home match on Thursday to get out of this rut,” offered Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips.
The Lady Warrior JV unit (12-10) were able to move past West Noble with a 25-20, 25-22 win. Becca Anderson had a big night with seven digs, three kills and two blocks while Seaquinn Bright added 10 digs and seven kills.
Wawasee (14-14) will host its final home meet of the season Thursday when NorthWood comes calling.
