UPDATE: Motorcyclist Injured In Milford Accident
At approximately 8:26 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, emergency personnel were called to an accident involving a motorcycle located on Old State Road 15 near Mock Road in Milford.
The family has released the name of the motorcyclist injured in the accident as Justin Graff of Leesburg. Graff, according to family and officials, suffered facial fractures and a broken leg as a result of the accident and was transported by ambulance to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Graff was southbound on Old SR 15 just south of Mock Road when his vehicle left the roadway on the right side of the road and fell to its side, sliding around 75 feet where it came to a rest on the left side of the road in the grass. Noticing the accident, witness Rhonda Estrada called dispatchers advising the accident had occurred and that the driver of the motorcycle had a severely bleeding head injury and was attempting to leave the scene of the accident.
As Graff began to pull away, officer Tim Miller of the Milford Police Department arrived on scene and began to follow Graff with his emergency lights on in an attempt to stop Graff. Graff continued southbound to 900 North where he turned eastbound running the stop sign at North 200 East and East 900 North and continued east. Miller stopped Graff just east of the intersection and advised dispatch Graff had a broken leg and severe head lacerations.
Graff told Miller he was traveling southbound toward Leesburg when a deer entered the roadway, forcing him to lay down his bike to avoid a collision. Police reported that the motorcycle had scrape marks on both sides and that there was an alcohol odor on the bike. In addition, a beer can was found at the scene of the accident. Graff admitted he had consumed a few beers before driving that evening and Deputy Mike Fowler is investigating possible operating while intoxicated charges as part of the investigation.
Damages are estimated to amount up to $2,500.
