Jefferson Students Enrich The Lives Of Others
Recently, several students at Jefferson Elementary School approached their principal, Mr. Robertson, about a dream they had for their school. These students wanted to find a way to serve the school and other students by keeping the playground and school clean and well kept.
With the support of the staff at Jefferson, over 30 students in grades 1-4 started the “S3” club – Students Serving Students. The goal of the club is to model leadership through serving other students at Jefferson.
The members of S3 put in approximately 240 hours over a 6-week period. The students approached and secured an adult sponsor for the club who in turn was able to find four other adult volunteers to help run the club. They graciously gave of their time and helped to provide healthy snacks and encouragement.
The leaders of this club hope to continue their efforts throughout the spring and expand their influence to a community-wide initiative in the town of Winona Lake. Congratulations to our leaders for pursuing their dreams of enriching their classmates.
