Milford Halloween a Success, Despite Weather
Last night, while poor weather had the rest of Kosciusko County scrambling to reschedule or relocate events, Milford’s Halloween went off without a hitch.
“Halloween evening was a huge success in Milford,” says Milford Town Clerk Joellen Free. According to Free, Milford was the only town in the county that did not postpone its festivities (nearby communities Nappanee and Cromwell also did not postpone trick or treating).
Throughout the day town officials monitored weather reports, while Free fielded plenty of phone calls. Her advice to worried parents was to consider indoor activities, like Lights Out at the Library or the Fun Fair at Milford First Brethren Church, and keep an eye on the weather, which ultimately cooperated.
Free said this morning that Milford Police gave out over 500 candies and pencils. The library had over 400 in attendance, a record for Lights Out at the Library. The Fun Fair also had an ample turnout.
The fire department handed out glow sticks and hosted trick or treaters. The police department, who were out patrolling for added safety, reported a good evening without any incidents.
