Single Car Crash Knocks Out Power
Residents in the area of CR 450 North, Leesburg, were without power overnight after a woman crashed her car into a utility pole.
It happened at 1:29 a.m. at East 450 North and North 375 East near Leesburg when Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies say Mary Bonheimer, 19, of Etna Green, ran off the road for an unknown reason and collided with an REMC pole resulting in downed power lines. When officers arrived, they say Bonheimer was lying in the roadway crying and in pain.
The impact snapped the utility line and caused the power outage that lasted approximately 6 hours.
Bonheimer was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital by ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries.
Damages were estimated at up to $10,000. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
