Anna Mae Smith, 85, of Baton Rouge, La., and formerly of Akron, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Mali’s Personal Care Home in Lawrenceville, Ga., where she lived for the past year and a half.

She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Akron, Ind., to Oliver Clell Lowmaster and Eleanor Bowers Lowmaster. She married George L. Smith on June 29, 1946, in Akron.

She retired from Aetna Life and Casualty after 27 years as a claims processor.

She is survived by two daughters: Cindy Smith and Cathy Daniel; a son: George ‘Bud’ (Mary Ann) Smith III; and three grandchildren: Laura Catherine Smith, Sarah Grace Smith and Hamani Al-Fayez.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Akron Cemetery, Akron.

Hartzler Funeral Home in Akron is in charge of arrangements.
