Dixon Announces Resignation From Township Board
To close the regular monthly meeting of the Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board held Monday evening, Bill Dixon informed fellow board members he will be resigning from the board effective Jan. 1, 2014. Dixon stated his job has required him to frequently travel and he feels this does not allow him to serve the board as well as he should.
As of Jan. 1, Dixon will have served on the township board for three years. He informed board members he plans to notify the county’s Republican Party Chairman Randy Girod of the resignation.
Girod will then call a caucus of the six township precinct committeemen and publicize the vacancy. Those wanting the position will be able to notify the chairman at that time. The individual selected to fill the position will serve the final year of the term.
In his report, Syracuse Fire Chief Mickey Scott reported the department responded to 12 fire calls and 68 EMS calls during October. He also reported the pre-construction meeting has taken place with the contractor, the architect, subcontractor, fire chief and township trustee in regards to the addition and renovation to Station 1.
The department has received the foundation release from the state and are currently waiting on the construction design release.
Scott said the contractor has moved his equipment to the station and has begun to tear up the concrete along the north side of the building. He has also removed the hose rack and will install a hose tower.
Scott also reported that, due to new regulations, 30 sections of fire hose have to be replaced for a total of $5,568.75.
The next monthly meeting of the Turkey Creek Township Advisory Board is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Fire Station 2.
