Warsaw Man Arrested For Strangling Girlfriend
A Warsaw man was arrested at 2:07 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, after allegedly strangling the mother of his child on Thanksgiving.
Nicholas Dane Rudkin, 21, of 352 S. East Ridge Place, Warsaw, was arrested for battery where a non-injured victim is an acting law enforcement officer, resisting law enforcement, domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, battery by means of strangulation, neglect of a dependent that endangers life or health and battery.
According to Warsaw Police Department Public Information Officer Kip Shuter, Rudkin arrived home to his Valley Forge apartment at 8:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28. According to witnesses, Rudkin reportedly removed his child from a carseat, carried the 1-year old up the stairs by it’s arm and then pounded on the door of his apartment. Witnesses state that Rudkin then tossed the child into the room onto the floor and began choking his girlfriend.
Neighbors called police after seeing this. Shuter stated that when Warsaw Police Department officers arrived, Rudkin was still within the apartment and resisted police commands but was taken into custody without further issue.
Shuter noted that Child Protective Services was informed of the events that transpired and has become involved. Rudkin’s girlfriend only sustained minor injuries including red marks to her throat and neck as well as complaints of pain. Shuter stated that the child showed no injuries or bruising from the incident.
Rudkin was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $2,000 surety bond.
