Stephen P. Harris announced Friday his intentions to run for the position of Kosciusko County Superior Court Judge No. 1 in the 2014 May Republican primary election.
Harris, 56, is a lifelong Kosciusko County resident and has practiced law for over 25 years with his father, Philip J. Harris, former prosecutor for Kosciusko County in the 1950s.
“I have worked in many areas of the law which have prepared me to serve as judge including criminal, family, probate and business law,” said Harris.
Harris has been active in the community. He has served as a board member of Combined Community Services and Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce and is currently serving as chair/president of the Kosciusko County Public Defender Board. Also, he has served as a Precinct Committeeman.
Harris said, “I would like the opportunity to give back to our wonderful community which has given so much to me and my family. It is my desire to use my legal experience and education in serving our community. If elected I promise to serve the community and perform the duties of Superior Court Judge No. 1 to the very best of my abilities, fairly, impartially and diligently.”
Harris is a 1976 graduate of Warsaw High School, a 1980 graduate of DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in History, a 1983 graduate of Butler University with a Master of Business Administration degree and a 1988 graduate of Indiana University School of Law with a degree of doctor of jurisprudence.
