Aurora Marie Shoemaker
Aurora Marie Shoemaker, 18, of Warsaw, Ind., was reported missing on Aug. 16, 2012. Her remains were found on Sept. 29, 2013, in rural Kosciusko County.
She was born Feb. 14, 1994, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Todd A. Shoemaker and Lauretta A. Helblig-Shoemaker.
Aurora attended Warsaw Community High School and home schooled through Penn Foster High School in Stranton, Pa. She loved writing, art, welding, photography, walking/hiking, camping dancing with family and friends and mountain climbing. Her favorite vacations were in Florida, Missouri and South Dakota.
Her family, friends and animals were very important and she loved them greatly. She had a heart of gold and was a very loving, caring and giving person.
Survivors include her father: Todd A. Shoemaker, Warsaw, Ind.; mother: Lauretta A. Helblig, Fort Wayne, Ind.; brothers: Spenser W. Shoemaker, Warsaw; and Bryan S.W. Shoemaker, Fort Wayne; sisters: Alyssa B. Shoemaker and Anna O. Shoemaker, both of Fort Wayne; grandmothers: Patricia M. Perkins, Bluffton, Ind.; Dianna J. Shoemaker, Warsaw; and Mara Helblig, Claypool, Ind.; uncles: Randy B. Helblig, Ligonier, Ind.; William E. Helblig, Todd E. Perkins and David L. Perkins, all of Warsaw; and aunts: Denise “Duck” Jackson, Warsaw; Patti A. Letherland, Sturgis, Mich.; Cheryl (Bryan) Spratt, Silver Lake, Ind.; Jennifer (Bryan) Ivey, Bobbie Jo Perkins and Kay Perkins, all of Warsaw; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers: William E. Helblig Sr., Gary W. Shoemaker and Norman L. Perkins; uncles: Terry L. Perkins, James Perkins and Norman E. Perkins; and her twin siblings preceded her.
A memorial gathering and service will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Warsaw Parks Department Center Lake Pavilion.
