Helen A. Arter
Helen A. Arter, 93, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City, Ind.
Born on Feb. 3, 1920, in Zanesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Zuglevich) Rodonsky.
On Aug. 9, 1949, she married John A. Arter in Zanesville, Ohio, and they moved to New Haven, Ind., in 1965. In 1965 she started working for Bennett’s Tailoring Shop in New Haven and worked there for 11 years.
In 1974 her family moved to Whitley Country where she began working at Whitley County Memorial Hospital in Columbia City until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her sons: John M. (Leisa) Arter, Pierceton; David G. (Kym) Arter, Melbourne, Fla.; and James D. (Brenda) Arter, Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers: John, Michael and Vincent Rodonsky; a sister: Anna Noland; and a 3-month-old granddaughter: Jamie Ann Arter.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. Graveside services to be announced at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1475 Military Road, Zanesville, Ohio.
