North Webster Public Library
For most people, the holiday season is a hectic time of juggling schedules, obligations, and family demands. Take a breather and bring the family to the 3 p.m. showing of Family Movie Time on Friday, Dec. 27, and watch a real juggler.
The library is partnering with the North Webster Community Center to present a juggling demonstration by LaMar Yoder in the Banquet Hall followed by a showing of a sequel about an ex-supervillain and his minions. If you’ve had enough holiday juggling and simply want to relax and watch the movie, there will also be an earlier showing without the demonstration at 11 a.m. in the library meeting room. The animated movie is rated PG and 98 minutes long. Bring your own beverages and help yourself to the free popcorn.
Teens in grades 6-12 can enjoy their own movie at the Teen Only Movie at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in the library meeting room. Showing will be a fantasy adventure about a teenager who discovers he is a demi-god, the son of a mortal woman and the Greek god Poseidon, and goes on a quest to prevent war among the gods. Rated PG, the move is 118 minutes long complemented with free popcorn.
Did you ever wonder about the secret life of toys? The library will show you what goes on when stuffed toys have their very own sleepover. At 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, children are invited to bring a stuffed animal or doll to the library for Evening Story Time, and then leave their toy at the library for a toy sleepover. The next morning, the children can return to the library between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to pick up their stuffed animal or doll and watch a slide-show of all their nighttime mischief while enjoying free donuts and juice. The mischievous toys will have Mrs. Pam jumping all night long!
The adults in the Make and Take Card Class may not be mischievous, but they will still be having fun at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, as they learn how to design and create their own original greeting cards. There’s a $7 class fee to join in, but you get to take home all the cards you make in class.
Although 2013 is about to come to a close, the library is gearing up for the New Year with a full slate of programming.
