Property Vacation Moved To Feb. 18
Kosciusko County Commissioners moved a vacation request of a public right of way to Feb. 18, it was decided at Monday’s brief meeting.
The petitioners, William and Beverly Long, want to vacate a public right of way at Hoffman Lake Campground. The vacation was scheduled to be heard Jan. 28. The remonstrator’s attorney, Richard Helm, requested the rescheduling.
The petition was heard once before by the commissioners. The decision was tabled until the county could find out who owns the adjacent property. The remonstrators and the Longs will be notified of the new date for the hearing.
In other news, the board added an item to an ordinance for personnel policy related to law enforcement in the sheriff’s department, including the jail’s employees. The addition was omitted when the ordinance was approved the first time and deals with overtime and the pay period cycle.
Also, 28 county employees still do not have direct deposit. Commissioners Brad Jackson and Ron Truex said they will look into the matter as direct deposit is a cost-saving measure for the auditor’s office.
The county commissioners are president Truex, Bob Conley and Jackson. The next meeting is at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the county courthouse in Warsaw.
