Tracey’s Trails Fund Benefits Greenway
The Tracey’s Trails Fund, a component fund of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, recently granted $28,400 to the town of Winona Lake for improvements to be made to a parking area on Roy Street that serves as an access point to the greenway.
The Tracey’s Trails Fund was established in memory of Tracey Yeager to provide support for building, improving and maintaining areas for outdoor family recreation and fitness activities, including hiking and bicycling paths and or trails, greenways or linear parks in Kosciusko County.
Before passing away in 2010 after a lengthy battle with cancer, Tracey enjoyed spending time with her husband and children, especially outdoors. She was an avid runner and cyclist. As a tribute to Tracey, her family and friends annually host the Tracey Yeager Memorial 5K on Memorial Day. The proceeds from the event go to the Tracey’s Trails Fund, which awarded this grant to the town of Winona.
“We evaluated a number of great opportunities throughout the county, and the entire committee felt this was a need we could fund that would provide immediate benefit to the community,” said Steve Yeager. “We are looking forward to holding another event on Memorial Day 2014 and funding other needs through the Tracey’s Trails Fund.”
Gifts to the Tracey’s Trails Fund are welcome, and are tax-deductible. They can be made by credit card online at www.KCFoundation.org/donate, or by check to Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 102 E. Market St., Warsaw, IN 46580. Be sure to write “Tracey’s Trails” in the check’s memo line.
