Marion B. ‘Bill’ Patty
Marion B. ‘Bill’ Patty, 77, of Goshen, Ind., and formerly of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at his home.
He was born July 9, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Marion Francis and Naomi (Bill) Patty.
He graduated in 1954 from Southside High School in Fort Wayne, attended Indiana University in Bloomington for 3 years and then graduated in 1961 from Huntington College. He served in the United States Army Reserves.
He was married on Oct. 6, 1962, in Fort Wayne to Nancy E. Showalter who preceded him in 1993. On Nov. 10, 1994, in Warsaw, Ind., he married Kathleen R. “Kathi” (Pfeiffer) Myers, who survives. He moved to the Dewart Lake area in 1977 from Fort Wayne and retired in 1999 from Art Iron in Fort Wayne and South Bend, Ind., after 30 years. In December 2011 he moved to Greencroft Retirement Community in Goshen.
He was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster, Ind., where he formerly served as president of the club, and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He formerly attended the North Webster Church of God, was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Elks Lodge in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his wife: Kathi Patty, Goshen; two daughters: Jennifer Zurcher, Nappanee, Ind.; and Jill (Mark) DeWitt, New Paris, Ind.; two sons: Mark (Jenny) Patty, Columbia City, Ind.; and Michael (Beth) Patty, South Bend; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step sons: Matthew (Michelle) Myers, New Paris; and Nathan (Cindy) Myers, Wolf Lake, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Nancy Patty; a son-in-law: Kim Zurcher; and a brother: Thomas Patty.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, Ind. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor David Smitley of the church officiating.
