Colts Facing Potential Blackout Of Playoff Game
INDIANAPOLIS – Despite hosting a playoff game this weekend, there is a possibility that the Indianapolis Colts may be blacked out locally on television. The reason: over 4,500 tickets are still available for the game as of Thursday morning according to a Colts team spokesman.
The game scheduled for 4:35 p.m. Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs is the first home playoff game for the Colts since 2010. The Colts (11-5) won the AFC South division title and play the Chiefs (11-5), which made the playoffs as a wild card. The game is scheduled to be broadcast on NBC.
The NFL has granted the Indianapolis Colts an extension of the local TV Blackout rule due to the New Year’s holiday. The NFL local TV Blackout rule states teams must be sold out 72 hours in advance of each game’s kickoff time to have the game broadcast on local television. The deadline is 4:35 p.m. Thursday.
