Metzgers Celebrate 75th Wedding Anniversary
Louise Penrod and Eldred Metzger were married Jan. 14, 1939. Their friends and family will celebrate the couple’s 75th anniversary with an open house at 2 p.m. Jan. 12, at Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, 2507 E. SR 14, Silver Lake. No gifts, please.
Eldred was a farmer, school bus driver, sold Dekalb seed corn, owned and operated Junction 13 and 14 Service Center and was the Jackson township precinct committee man for many years. At 96 he still gardens, mows lawn and maintains his home on SR 13. Louise has been a homemaker, bookkeeper, tractor driver, Sunday school teacher and liked to refinish furniture.
They have one daughter: Carolyn Smith, Fort Wayne. They also have three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
