UPDATE: Pierceton House Fire
Pierceton Fire Department was called to Lot 106 at Regency Estates at 7:26 p.m. Tuesday for a reported residential fire. The mobile home park is located along U.S. 30.
The occupants of the home and the family dog safely evacuated the trailer.
Firefighters from Pierceton, with a full assist from Larwill, had to deal with frozen fire hydrants and subzero temperatures to battle the blaze, which was caused by heat tape that was being used to thaw pipes underneath the trailer. The fire was brought under control at about 8:05 p.m.
The Red Cross was contacted to assist three adults and two children who were displaced from the fire and to provide a canteen for approximately 25 firefighters who were on scene.
Pierceton Fire Chief Matt Brubaker said damages to the trailer were estimated at about a 75 percent loss due to smoke and water damages.
