LCA Ladies Rally To Win
WINONA LAKE – A fine final quarter netted the Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team a win Thursday night.
The host Cougars overcame a six-point deficit in rallying to edge Elkhart Christian Academy 39-38.
LCA trailed 36-30 going into the final frame before outscoring the Eagles 9-2 in the fourth stanza. LCA had led 12-8 after the opening period of play and 21-19 at halftime being being outscored 17-9 in the third quarter.
Hannah Delp had a big night to lead LCA to the victory. She hit a trio of treys in scoring a game-high 15 points for the winners.
Hannah Remington tallied 10 points for the Cougars and hit a pair of 3-pointers. Rachel Sand scored eight points, Julianne Haines five and Carissa Urschalitz one for coach Ty Propp’s squad.
LCA improves to 5-8 on the season.
Mary Reddy and Brooke Yoder each had nine points to lead Elkhart Christian, which drops to 0-9. Kayla Casaletto scored eight points.
LCA plays at Argos Saturday night. Elkhart Christian plays at Howe Jan. 14.
