Larry A. Harkleroad
Larry A. Harkleroad, 65, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 2:26 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Ind.
He was born on May 1, 1948, in Richmond, Ind., to Harry M. and Lena F. (Falcone) Harkleroad. He graduated in 1966 from Richmond High School and attended Indiana University East in Richmond. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was married on Aug. 16, 1975, in Richmond to Linda K. Henry, who survives, and moved to the Syracuse area at that time. He retired in 2011 as a salesman for Quality Cabinets in Dallas, Texas, after 20+ years of service and was formerly employed at Kemper Cabinets in Richmond, Ind.
Larry was a member of the Syracuse VFW Post 1342 and American Legion Post 223, both in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Harkleroad, Syracuse; a son: Ryan (Alexandra) Harkleroad, Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters: Darlene Caves, Centerville, Ind.; Becky (Jay) Hartman, Richmond; and Angela (Darren) Touseull, Fishers, Ind.; a brother: Ken (Pat) Jordan, Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: David Harkleroad
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
