OMCO Granted Variance By BZA
During its regular monthly meeting Jan. 14 in Warsaw, Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals granted a variance to Midwest Realty. The variance will allow the east side of an existing building to be expanded for OMCO Roll Forming on Arnolt Drive, south of U.S. 30 in Pierceton.
The building is located 40 feet from the right of way.
Other agenda items included:
- John Garber’s petition for a variance to construct a new peaked roof above a residence on Chapman Lake Drive, west of EMS C17 Lane in Plain Township, was continued until the February meeting. Not all of the nearby property owners had been properly notified.
- CM Tucker Farms was granted a variance to rebuild an agricultural accessory building destroyed in a tornado. The property is on SR 19 at the intersection with CR 700S in Franklin Township.
- Hal Hoffman was granted an exception to split off part of a camp to be its own entity with the condition the campground meets state requirements and is combined to his adjoining property. The property is located on the south side of Yellow Creek Lake, east of CR 900S in Seward Township.
- Teresa Martin was granted an exception for a home based business to consist of manufacturing and selling small toys on CR 100W, south of SR 14 in Lake Township.
- Tim Lowman was granted a variance to allow two undersized lots to be created through a subdivision re-plat on Oakwood Drive, east of Indian Trail in Wayne Township. Approval was granted with the condition no variances are ever sought on the two tracts.
- Brian and Marsha Coop’s petition for a variance to allow a new home to be built 28 feet from the water’s edge on EMS C24E Lane in Plain Township was continued until the February meeting. Remonstrators were not happy the house would be that close to the water, though the petition was modified to 32 feet. The BZA wants the affected property owners to talk before a decision is made.
- Derek Flora was granted an exception to allow an addition to an existing building used for auto sales and salvage, and also a variance to permit construction of the addition 7.6 feet from the right of way on SR 15, north of CR 600N in Plain Township.
- Robert and Megan Martin were granted a variance to permit construction of a shed on existing concrete on Antler Drive, west of Shagbark Drive in Wayne Township.
